Your Kruger Park safari begins the moment we collect you. Depending on the time you arrive, you could either have a morning or afternoon game drive (or both).
When overnighting, we need to check into the camp no later than 2 pm. This means that once we’ve collected you, we’ll drive straight to the camp and there will be time to get settled ito your chalet or bungalow. There is time to enjoy a late afternoon game drive, should you arrive in the morning.
The Kruger Park is a wild and unpredictable place. You never know, from one day to the next, what you might see around the corner. There are no strict schedules when you visit the Kruger, and we take the day and its sightings as they come.
Our Overnight safaris are very successful and we very seldom finish without seeing the big 5, as we can’t predict what we’ll see, ‘animals do have four legs and they walk’. But we will try the best in our capabilities to try and find the animals you desire to see.
We take great pride in our overnight safaris. We often see the Big 5 as well as all kinds of animals while visiting the park, although we can never predict what we might come across. We make an effort to ensure that you enjoy your stay and that you see as much as possible during your time with us.
Wanyama Safaris uses various rest camps through the Kruger for accommodating guests.
Have a look at the park map to see the location of the different camps.
We book camp accommodation according to your preferences. Keep in mind that it is not always possible, due to the availability, or lack thereof, of camp space. In cases where we are unable to book accommodation at your camp of choice, we’ll select the second closest option.

On the second day of the Kruger Park safari, you are greeted with coffee, tea and delicious morning rusks. Once you are refreshed and ready to start the day, we head off to the gates. The earlier we leave the camp the better, as animals tend to hide away when the day gets too hot. We return to the camp at around 12 pm, sometimes as late as 2 pm, for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation. Later in the afternoon, we head out once more on safari, returning to the camp just before the gates close for the evening.
On the 3rd and final day of your Kruger Park safari, guests will spend the early morning on safari before leaving the park and heading to the nearby Elephant Sanctuary. It is one thing to see the animals from the comfort of a safari vehicle, and quite another to get up close and interact with these gentle giants.
This interaction is included as a part of the package and each of the elephants living here are either rescued elephants or they are being rehabilitated.
Depending on availability, the interaction with elephants can be done on either the first or the second day of the safari trip.
