Your safari begins the moment we collect you. After picking up guests, we head straight for the Kruger National Park, and embark on the first safari of your stay with us. At 2 pm, we check into the camp where we will be staying and there will be more than enough time for guests to settle into the bungalow or chalet. In the late afternoon, we leave the camp to enjoy a late drive, arriving back at the camp before the gates close.
On your second day we provide you with coffee, tea and rusks early morning to get you refreshed so that we can leave for the morning safari ASAP when the gates open. (NOTE: early mornings and late afternoons are the best times for animals to get active after a long hot day) We will then return at 12:00 or 2:00 pm for lunch and afternoon siesta, to conduct the late afternoon safari later on. This will continue on the amount of days you are visiting.
Keep in mind that the Kruger Park is very unpredictable and at any given moment something amazing to see and experience can come across our path, you never know what you will see, this will all influence your time and safari activities during the day.
Our Overnight safaris are very successful and we very seldom finish without seeing the big 5, as we can’t predict what we’ll see, ‘animals do have four legs and they walk’. But we will try the best in our capabilities to try and find the animals you desire to see.
Wanyama Safaris makes use of various camps throughout the park to accommodate guests.
To familiarise yourself with the locations of the camps, please have a look at the map.
While we always try to book a spot in the camp of your choice, there are times when camps are full. When this is the case, we’ll look for other accommodation in the area you are hoping to stay.
Kruger National Park
Will be indicated by your Tour Guide
The Cheetah is the world’s fastest land mammal, capable of reaching speeds up to 113 km/h. And on this day, we zip around the park, always on the lookout for cheetah and all other kinds of animals.
The second day of this tour package is spent exploring the Kruger, from dusk till dawn. Stopping off at all of the most exciting places and always on the lookout for the various animals who live in the area, guests are treated to the maximum amount of time in the park. We stop for snacks and lunch throughout the day, keeping you refreshed and rested.
The day starts before the sun reaches too far beyond the horizon. The early morning is known as the best time of the park to see animals, as they are not yet seeking shelter from the intense heat. We stop mid-morning for a breakfast snack and to stretch our legs, before heading off again. Around mid-day we leave the park.
African elephants are natures most Gentle Giants. Their immense size often leaves people quite fearful, but every person who encounters them can attest to their calm nature. The Elephant is one of the Big 5, and while you will see them in the Kruger, interacting with one is unlike anything you will ever experience.
This Package includes interaction with elephants at Elephant Sanctuary outside of the Kruger Park. These elephants are rehabilitated and rescued from various circumstances, and they now live peacefully amongst each other at the sanctuary.
When booking this safari, you have the option of visiting the Elephant Sanctuary. We will drive from the campsite to the sanctuary, located close to Hazyview, enjoying an early morning safari on our way there. (Keep in mind that the elephant interaction can also be done on the first or second day depending on which time of the week and availability)
